The Need for Good News

News is information which was not known before either current events broadcasted over television, radio or in newspaper media or at some public gathering. For instance, an example of news is an old couple announcing their impending wedding at a public gathering. Most of us, even in the modern era, receive news through newspapers, television and the Internet. There are some people who still rely on printed news.

A good news story should satisfy several different needs of the reader/viewer such as being topical, well-written, accurate, interesting and timely. A news item that fulfills all these needs in a satisfactory manner is likely to make news. A news story can be made by any professional journalist with an inclination towards it or by someone with good knowledge of the industry and an interest in it. The method of how news items are made depends on the requirements of the news organisation.

News items can be made for many different types of audiences such as entertainment, business, sports, weather, international, politics, health, education, crime and many more. The purpose of making a news item depends largely on its audience, nature, and what the journalists and editors think the public needs. For instance, if the news will be relevant to the local residents, it will have to be relevant to them. If it is going to be entertaining, it will have to entertain. If it is going to be accurate, it will have to be factual.
