What Is Tech?

The term “Tech” was coined in the early 1970s by American Physician Larry Dossey. It was originally an acronym for Technology, Physical sciences, Software, and Learning Technologies. Technology is the entire sum of any new methods, skills, and procedures utilized in the achievement of specific goals, including scientific research, military action, or in the development of new products or services. By definition, technology is an evolving field, with new knowledge being generated at a rapid pace.

As you might imagine, there are many fields that fall under the umbrella of technology. In business, technology is the application of science and engineering to improve efficiency and effectiveness in business activities, marketing, business development, management, and many more. At the same time, tech encompasses many things in our day-to-day lives, such as information technology, computer technology, healthcare, multimedia, and the internet. All these different types of technologies have been developed and put into place by various groups, including academians, business professionals, and industry leaders.

Many successful tech companies have emerged from the ashes of some of these successful companies. Examples include Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco, Sun Microsystems, and Microsoft. Some of these companies were started as small companies, while others grew into huge multinational companies overnight. Whether you’re looking up tech jargon to impress your friends at a party, or you want to start your own company, it’s important to understand tech at a basic level in order to succeed.
