The author, Michael Crichton, knew something was amiss when he chose to write a sequel to his acclaimed covid-series, COVID-2. In this second book, the original COVID-series takes place on a planet called COWID. In this book, the war between the good and evil forces is still going on, but COWID has changed drastically. There’s a new sheriff (omas) and police captain (alan), and a whole new sector of government, all of which are out to make a name for themselves and gain the upper hand.

What makes COWID intriguing is its detailed description of a future world that has not yet reached anything like the society that we have found ourselves. One character, named Aaron Crane, is an artist who has won the best art award, and is kept busy improving upon his old inventions. One of these is the “Stargate-drive,” which allows people to travel to other time and space and use it as a device to alter their history. One of the main characters, Dr. David Stross, works at a research center where they’re investigating theories of COWID. Because of their long-term observations of the stars, they’re able to view a vision of the future; and this vision foresaw a war between the good and evil forces.

The second book, COWID, was released in April of this year. I’ve read a few pages from this book, and it is much better than I remember it being. The writing style is crisp, clean, and easy to follow. Michael Crichton does an excellent job of weaving a complex story filled with conspiracy, politics, space travel, and of course, the COWID itself. He has written a novel that will please the millions who have bought the first two books in his series.
