The Threat of Tech Giants

In today’s world, technology has become the main force driving all developments in technology and science. The term “technology” itself was derived from “science” in ancient times, meaning the application of knowledge about nature, especially those areas not seen by the eyes of the naked eye. Technology is the collective sum of any technological methods, skills, systems, and practices utilized in the achievement of specific goals, including scientific research, computer science, electrical engineering, manufacturing, information technology, etc. Different fields and industries make use of different technology practices, each contributing to the greater good of the society. There are various types of technology, with different areas and purposes calling for particular types of technology practices.

However, to prevent the adverse effects of technology on society, it is important that we, as individuals and groups, do not create tech that has bad intentions towards mankind. It is always better to use tech to achieve good intentions – because, in the end, tech is always meant to create a good society, not to destroy it. Unfortunately, bad guys will find their way into the technology, using its often mysterious powers for evil purposes. It is therefore our responsibility, as individuals and groups, to be aware of these tech-wannabes who show up in forums and chatrooms, and try to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Also, tech is used to enhance our environment and living conditions; therefore, bad guys using technology for their evil ends, should not be allowed to thrive in our communities.

To further prevent the bad guys from manipulating tech to create bad things, tech-creating groups must be formed to protect against the threats presented by big tech companies and their insidious ways of taking over smaller industries, discarding their creators, and destroying entire cities, towns, and even nations. For these reasons, it is important that every individual and group who creates tech realize the need for tech policy and tech protection, so that the fruits of their tech-making efforts do not fall into the wrong hands. As it is currently, there is very little that individual and small groups can do to defend themselves against the overtaking of large tech companies by big tech companies with deep pockets and powerful marketing campaigns. Only through a strong and well-established tech policy will we be able to defend ourselves and our children from the perils that these corporate giants pose.
